European Skimboarding League




ESL Launch
We are proud to announce the launch of the European Skimboard League (ESL©).
For the first time, a skimboard association unifies several countries.
The ESL boasts the sanctioning of 4 International skimboard events located in Europe in 2009.
ESL has been dedicated to showcasing the best skimboarding talent in a variety of challenging locations, the development of skimboarding and provides common guidance and advice to its members on matters such as competition, judging, coaching, communications, and other areas of development of the sport.

2009 will be a trial season for the ESL.

Spain : Barcelona/Mataro
France : Hossegor/Seignosse
Portugal : TBA
United Kingdom : Newquay

Organization :The ESL is directed by a 4 people board representing Spain, France, Portugal and UK.In the coming years, the board should integrate others European representants.The ESL Tour contests are held in Euro locations with the support of local staff including logistic, communication, and judges…
Main missions and aims :-Develop skimboard in Europe with others countries such as Italy, Netherlands, Sweden…-Elaborate a strong partnership with South America-Get corporate sponsorship-Support the creation of others regional leagues outside of Europe-Collaborate with the existing skimboarding associations-Get official homologation*
*Certified homologation: To promote the professionalization of the sport, the ESL is working together with national surf federations that are the legal promoters of the sport. It allows skimboard to be under the rulling of ISA to ensure the international coherence of competitions and judging criteria, with respects to skimboard specifications. This professionalization will put skimboard directly under the homologation standarts of the worlds biggest and most relevant sport organization: The Olympic Comitee.
Contest format:ESL Tour is an Open entry format with categories such as Male, Female and Junior. The skimboarders compete for prizes in money or gifts, and for the Europe Champion title.The overall 4 stages winner will win a flight Ticket to compete in South America this winter (December 09/ January 10).
Rendez-vous in Barcelona/Mataro april the 18th for the first ESL event.
