ESL First Championship "Barcelona, Spain"

The newest event of the 4-stages 2009 European Skimboard League Tour, is held over
17-18-19 April in Mataro (Barcelona area) and hosted by the Voodoo Skimboard Club. The expected level promises to show the utter progression of the European scene. These riders are attracted by the possibility to compete with some of the most talented European skimboarders, in order to win the ticket to a South American Contest, and possibly become the 2009 ESL Champion.

"We’re proud to offer the ESL Tour to the riders, and this Spanish stop being the first of the Tour is the logical continuation of the work that has been accomplished for the past years," said Mathieu Taxy, Spanish representant of the ESL.

"Our steep slope beach and proximity to the "Barcelona vida loca" are definitely to our advantage in offering the best conditions to begin the season. To welcome this competition opens up real possibilities for the Spanish skimboard community, and gives us credibility among European spot/cities able to organize large events," said Horacio Mayol August, local Organiser.

The Portuguese delegation represented by at least a bunch of 10 rad riders will be led by last year’s Portuguese Tour Champ Hugo Santos (placing 2 last year in Barcelona).
However, the Lusitanos squaddra is likely to be challenged by local-based Xavi Mirabet and Spanish Champion Raffa Castillo.

Don’t also forget the French connection with the talented Nicolas Thibault, Yann Franssen and Alexandre Marette.

English, Italians, Polish will also be hungry to get an early jump in the standing!
