European Skimboard League ESL

The European Skimboard League (ESL©) has been launched in February 2009.
It is a registered association which boasts the sanctioning of 4 International skimboard events located in Europe in 2009. For the first time, a skimboard association unifies several countries.
The ESL is dedicated to showcase the best skimboarding talents in a variety of challenging locations, and provides common rules and advices.
-Main missions and aims:
• To run a unified Tour in Europe
• To provide common rules
• To develop skimboard in Europe with others countries such as Italy, Netherlands, Belgium, Sweden…
• To get corporate sponsorship
• To elaborate a strong partnership with South America
• To support the creation of others regional leagues outside of Europe
• To collaborate with the existing skimboarding associations
• To get official homologation*
o *Certified homologation: To promote the professionalization of the sport, the ESL is working together with national surf federations that are the legal promoters of the sport.
-2009 will be a trial season for the ESL.

• France : Hossegor/Seignosse
• Portugal : TBA
• United Kingdom : Newquay

-Organization : The ESL is directed by a 4 people board representing Spain, France, Portugal and UK. In the coming years, the board should integrate others European representants. The ESL Tour contests are held in Euro locations with the support of local staff including logistic, communication, and judges…
-Contest format: The ESL Tour is based on Open categories such as Male, Female and Junior. The skimboarders compete for prizes in money or gifts, and for the European Champion title. The overall 4 stages winner will win a flight Ticket to compete in South America this winter (December 09/ January 10).
